About Me
Writer, Music Lover, Tech, Mentor, Creative

I Am Octavia is a space where I get to be fully myself. In every role I’ve had, there was always a script, a way things had to be said. Here, there isn’t one. As a writer, I create freely through devotionals, poetry, fiction rooted in real life experiences, and music.
As an author, community journalist, and creative, I’ve always found ways to express myself through words. Writing started as something deeply personal for me, a way to process life, make sense of my experiences, and say what wasn’t always easy to say out loud. Over time, it became something I could share with others.
My journey hasn’t been one straight path. I’ve worn many hats, from beautician to bailiff, to tech and education, always learning, building, and finding ways to use both my God given gifts and the skills I’ve taught myself over the years.
I hold a Master’s in Adult Learning and Development, along with degrees in Business and Information Systems, but some of my most meaningful growth has come through experience, community, creativity, and the people I’ve encountered throughout my journey.

As a community journalist with The Land, I tell stories that matter to Cleveland and the people who call it home. I’m also part of the Myrtle Tree Writers Group, where I continue to grow alongside other writers while supporting and encouraging the development of new voices.
I currently have two devotionals published, Faithful Reflections, self published in 2024, and Healing Ain’t Easy, But… in 2026. I continue to develop new projects, including my upcoming novel Twisted Ties and 20 Shades of Tae, a collection of poetry and song.
Whether I’m writing, mentoring, or creating, my goal is to help people feel seen, heard, and understood, something I know the importance of through my own journey.
I’m passionate about mental health, creativity, and creating spaces where people can show up as they are. One day, I hope to open a creative space that brings together writing, reflection, and community, a place where people who may feel out of place can still find their voice.
For now, this is part of that space.
This is me, writing, growing, and creating, unscripted
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” ― Maya Angelou

Mental Health Advocacy
As a mental health advocate, I openly share my journey with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, the challenges I’ve faced, and the healing I continue to walk through. This feature with ADAA gives a deeper look into my story and the strength it took to finally live in my truth, a journey that continues to shape my writing.
